This sweet Lebanese dish is served as a side dish or a dessert. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water |
1/2 cup orange juice |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 cup bulgur, uncooked (cracked wheat) |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/4 cup chopped dried fig |
1/4 cup chopped dried apricot |
1/4 cup raisins |
2 tablespoons pine nuts |
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, orange juice, and sugar. 2. Bring to a boil over medium heat. 3. Add bulgur, reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook 15 minutes. 4. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla and cinnamon. Then add remaining ingredients, mixing well. 5. Serve right away for best flavor and texture. |
