Second freezer slaw. Ingredients:
1 head red cabbage, shredded |
1 cup carrot, grated |
1 tablespoon salt |
2 cups sugar |
1/2 cup water |
1 cup vinegar |
1 teaspoon celery seed |
1 tablespoon dry mustard |
1 bell pepper, diced |
1/2 cup onion, diced |
1 stalk celery, diced |
Directions:
1. Mix shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and salt in a large bowl; let stand one hour; drain very thoroughly. 2. Meanwhile while cabbage is setting, boil sugar, water, vinegar, celery seed, and dry mustard for a couple of minutes; cool. 3. Pour solution over drained cabbage and carrot; add diced bell pepper, onion, and celery; toss. 4. Put into freezer containers. 5. Thaw in refrigerator when ready to use. |
