Because it is frozen, you can pop a piece out whenever its needed. Easy for unexpected guests. Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups chocolate wafer crumbs (if you can't find them ready made, just remove the filling from oreo cookes and process in the blender. you will need about 24 cookies) |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/4 cup butter, melted |
8 ozs cream cheese softened |
1 can (14 ozs) swetened condensed milk |
2/3 cup chocolate syrup |
2 tbs instant coffee granules (use blender to make crystals finer) |
1 tbs hot water |
1 cup whipping cream, whipped |
chocolate-covered coffee beans for decoration (optional) |
Directions:
1. Combine 1 cup crumbs, sugar and butter. Press onto the bottom and 1 inch up the sides of a greased 9 inch spring form pan; set aside (See note) 2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, milk and chocolate syrup until smooth. 3. Dissolve coffee granules in hot water; add to cream cheese mixture 4. Fold in whippped cream. Pour into the crust. Sprinkle with remaining crumbs 5. Cover and freeze for 8 hours or overnight. Uncover and remove from the freezer 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Garmish with coffee beans if desired. 6. Note: I cut strips of waxed paper for the sides of the spring form pan and a circle for the bottom and butter them. It is easier to remove the torte, with crumbs in tact. |
