This is a very easy recipe for making a nutty confection to serve your guests at family gatherings and holiday parties. These candied walnuts also make a lovely gift when givin to friends in decorated cellophane bags and baskets. Read more . We've been making this recipe for over 20 years and I hope that you'll try it. Ingredients:
4 cups of walnut halves |
1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar |
1/2 cup of fresh sour cream |
2 tsp. vanilla extract |
1 tsp. cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Put the walnuts into a heat-proof glass bowl or ceramic bowl 2. Add the sugar and sour cream to a medium-sized sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar melts. 3. Cook for four minutes and add the vanilla extract and cinnamon. 4. Stir and cook for one more minute. 5. Pour the mixture over the walnuts. 6. Stir until the walnuts are coated. 7. Pour on to a pan either coated with butter or on to waxed paper. 8. *In this day and age, you can use the Release aluminum foil or a large silicone baking mat. |
