Another favourite from my mother's arsenal of treats. Ingredients:
1 cup shortening |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup white sugar |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup flour |
1 cup rolled oats |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
1 cup icing sugar |
water |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. 2. Combine all ingredients and pour into a greased 8 or 9 square baking dish. 3. Bake for 30 minutes. 4. Frost when completely cool, then cut into bars. 5. To make frosting: Add water to icing sugar, a teaspoon at a time, and mix until you achieve a spreadable consistency. |
