I would have to add some almonds to the dough and some sliced ones on the frosting... this recipe is from Glenda Barcklow at The Genesee Country Inn Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/3 cup butter |
1/2 cup milk |
1/3 cup jam or dried fruit of your choice |
1 teaspoon pure almond extract |
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon |
2 teaspoons white sugar |
frosting |
1 cup confectioner's sugar |
1 tablespoon milk (more if needed to thin) |
1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract |
Directions:
1. Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter, milk, jam or dried fruit, and 1 teaspoon almond extract. 2. Lightly knead dough on floured surface and pat into 1/2-inch thick rounds. 3. Combine cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle scones with mixture. Bake at 450 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes (do not over-bake). 4. Combine frosting ingredients and frost scones while they are warm. |
