The neighbors refer to themselves as the Franklin Forest Frolickers. These beans have been baked in the official pot for many years. Ingredients:
10 bacon slices |
4 (28-ounce) cans baked beans |
5 green bell peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces |
3 large onions, chopped |
2 cups ketchup |
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
2 tablespoons prepared mustard |
1 tablespoon white vinegar |
Directions:
1. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp; reserve 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon. 2. Stir together bacon, bacon drippings, beans, and next 5 ingredients in a roasting pan. 3. Bake, covered, at 350° for 3 hours. Stir in vinegar. |
