Ingredients:
1 (16-ounce) package dried pinto beans |
7 cups water |
1 pound salt pork, diced |
1 small onion, sliced |
2 cloves garlic, sliced |
2 teaspoons sugar |
Directions:
1. Sort and wash beans; place in a large Dutch oven. Cover with water 2 inches above beans; let soak overnight. 2. Drain beans; cover with 7 cups water. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 3 hours or until beans are tender. Spoon into a serving bowl. |
