I like to serve this side when I make Chinese spare ribs. You can add any vegetables that you like in addition to the onions. Great side! Ingredients:
2 tbsp oil |
1 cup uncooked rice |
1 envelope onion soup mix |
2 cups water |
1/2 tbsp soy sauce |
1 small bunch scallions, sliced on the diagonal |
1/2 small white onion, chopped into medium size pieces |
1 small clove garlic, minced |
Directions:
1. Saute scallions, garlic and white onions slightly in 1 Tbs. oil and remove from pan. 2. Saute rice in the rest of oil (add more oil if needed) until lightly brown. 3. Add soup mix, water and soy sauce. 4. Cover and simmer about 15 minutes or until water is absorbed. 5. Add scallions and onions back to pan. 6. Stir with fork to fluff. 7. Add one egg. 8. Stir and serve immediately. 9. You can mix in duck sauce if you like a little sweetness in your rice. Add any additional veggies you might like or strips of cooked pork, chicken or shrimp to make it a complete dinner. Enjoy! |
