I think I saw a fried morel recipe here already, but wanted to share my pics. Happy Hunting!
Ingredients:
as many black, gray, or white morels as you can find
flour to toss them in
unsalted butter, i use 1 stick for 2 pans of morels
salt to taste
Directions:
1. Soak morels in very salty water if you gathered them from the woods, this removes any bugs that may be habitating in them
2. Rinse, rinse, then rinse again to get rid of any dirt
3. Slice in half, lengthwise
4. Dry them enough so they aren't dripping, they should be somewhat moist so the flour will stick
5. Melt butter in a heavy skillet over medium heat
6. Toss some morels in the flour
7. Place them in the sizzling butter, make sure they have room to cook, don't crowd the pan
8. Fry for 2 minutes each side until golden brown
9. Remove to a plate covered with paper towel to absorb any excess oil
10. Salt hot morels lightly,
11. Fry more morels!!
12. As i said in the ingredients i use 1 stick of butter for 2 fryings of the morels, after that the butter and flour start to burn and makes them taste less than stellar.
