I love these, you just have to make sure you follow the directions closely so as not to melt the ice cream while deep frying. It only takes a couple seconds, (not 2 minutes as stated in cook time) it wouldn't allow for seconds - enjoy Ingredients:
1 quart vanilla ice cream |
1 cup cornflake crumbs |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 tsp. cinnamon |
honey or chocolate syrup |
whipped cream |
maraschino cherries |
oil |
Directions:
1. 5 hours in advance: Combine crumbs, sugar, and cinnamon in a shallow pan. Let ice cream soften slightly for 5 minutes. Make 6 balls of ice cream, roll in crumb mixture until well coated, pressing coating into ice cream. Wrap in foil and freeze for 5 hours. 2. Heat oil to 450 degrees. Unwrap each ball and fry in hot oil VERY BRIEFLY, about 2 seconds. Place in dessert dish, decorate with toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. Serve immediately. |
