Southern Classic Ingredients:
4 to 6 green tomatoes |
1 c. flour |
1 c. bread crumbs |
1/4 c. milk |
1 egg, beaten |
3 tbs. butter |
1 tbs. oil |
salt, pepper, and spices to taste |
Directions:
1. Slice the tomatoes 1/2 inch thick. 2. Mix the flour, bread crumbs, salt/pepper/spices into a shallow bowl (a pie tin works well, too) 3. Combine egg and milk into another shallow bowl. 4. Dip both sides of the tomato into the dry mix. 5. Then Dip into the wet mix. 6. Dip one more time into the dry mix. 7. Heat butter and oil in an skillet (cast-iron preferably) 8. Fry tomatoes until golden brown on both sides. |
