RECIPE FROM PAULA DEEN, THIS IS SO GOOD SERVED AS AN APPETIZER OR SNACK. Ingredients:
3 to 4- large firm green tomatoes |
salt |
2 cups self -rising flour or cornmeal |
1 to 2 teaspoons black pepper |
vegetable oil for frying |
buttermilk |
Directions:
1. SLICE TOMATOES DESIRED THICKNESS,......( I LIKE MINE THIN BECAUSE THEY ARE CRISPIER.) 2. LAY OUT ON A PAN AND SPRINKLE WITH SALT. 3. THEN PLACE IN A COLANDER AND ALLOW TIME FOR SALT TO PULL THE WATER OUT OF THE TOMATOES. 4. DIP THE TOMATOES IN BUTTERMILK, THEN DREDGE IN FLOUR 5. WITH BLACK PEPPER. AND DEEP FRY UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN 350-375 DEGREES ( MED -HIGH HEAT) |
