A truly southern dish. Ingredients:
4 large green tomatoes |
1/2 cup all-purpose flour or 1/2 cup cornmeal |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1 teaspoon salt |
bacon drippings or salad oil |
Directions:
1. Cut tomatoes into 1/4 slices. 2. Combine flour, salt and pepper; dredge tomato slices with this mixture. 3. Place in heavy skillet containing hot bacon drippings. 4. Fry slowly until brown, turning once. |
