A MID-EASTERN DISH FROM ISRAEL........... hope you will enjoy it tried it a month ago it was delish!!!..... courtesy of a taste of Israel ........ Ingredients:
12- ounces ( 350 g) goats cheese in a log and well chilled for slicing |
flour for coating |
1- egg lightly beaten and seasoned with thyme and some freshly grated nutmeg......... |
garlic |
vegetable oil for frying |
1- small onion finely chopped |
1- tablespoon wine vinegar |
dash of tabasco sauce |
6 - heaping tablespoons of chopped fresh mint |
Directions:
1. slice the chilled cheese and dip the slices first in flour then in the beaten egg mixture, then back in the flour again 2. heat the oil in a skillet until it begins to smoke then slide the cheese slices into the pan and cook them on both side until lightly golden brown... 3. rub the inside of a bowl with the garlic and mix together the onion, olive oil, wine vinegar-tabasco sauce-and mint 4. spoon the mixture onto the individual plates and place the cheese slices on top 5. makes 4 servings |
