never had chocolate tofu before and this seemed like a filling breakfast idea. try changing around the spice amounts and powdered sugar might also be a good garnish or tossed in after fried Ingredients:
1 block of firm tofu - pressed and dried for 1 - 12 hours |
5 tsp espresso powder |
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips |
2 tsp ginger |
2 tsp cayenne powder |
2 tsp cinnamon |
1/2 cup oil |
2 cups water |
2 eggs |
flour |
Directions:
1. heat water and espresso until simmering 2. add ginger, cayenne powder, cinnamon, stir 3. add chocolate chips progressively, stirring 4. making sure chocolate doesn't burn, cut tofu down to bite size, thinner could allow you more concentrated taste 5. when chocolate is at a medium watery boil, add tofu, stirring until chocolate is thick and you can just smell it starting to burn 6. drain tofu from chocolate 7. whisk 2 eggs and toss tofu in, covering 8. toss tofu in flour and slide into wok you have already heated with oil and 2 more tsp of cayenne 9. while frying keep chocolate liquid simmering uncovered until reduced, drizzle on tofu when done 10. serve hot |
