A unique dish that is bound to surprise you. Onions and cabbage are sauted in bacon drippings. A smidge of vinegar gives this dish a tang you're sure to enjoy. Ingredients:
6 cups cabbage, sliced into thin wedges |
3 slices bacon, chopped |
2 tbsp water |
1/4 cup onion, diced |
1 tbsp cider vinegar |
1 pinch white sugar |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Directions:
1. Cook bacon in a large, deep skillet over a medium-high heat, until browned evenly. Remove, and place aside. 2. Now, add the onion to the hot bacon grease and cook until tender. Next, add the cabbage, and mix in the water, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook until cabbage wilts, around 15 minutes. Mix in the bacon, and give the mixture a splash of vinegar prior to serving. |
