what could be bad about cabbage and onion cooked in bacon grease... let's not talk about health factors here, OK? Ingredients:
3 slices bacon, chopped |
1/4 cup onion, chopped |
6 cups cabbage, cut into thin wedges |
2 tablespoons water |
1 pinch white sugar |
salt and pepper to taste |
1 tablespoon cider vinegar |
Directions:
1. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. 2. Cook over medium high heat until evenly browned and crisp. 3. Remove bacon and set aside. 4. Cook onion in the hot bacon grease until tender. 5. Add cabbage. 6. Stir in water, sugar, salt and pepper. 7. Cook until cabbage wilts, about 15 minutes. 8. Stir in bacon. 9. Splash with vinegar before serving OR serve with vinegar on the side. |
