Another recipe for fall.
Ingredients:
6 medium-sized tart apples
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 to 1/2 cup brown sugar
Directions:
1. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the cores.
2. Cut eash quarter lengthwise into three or four slices. (Cut out any blemishes or brown spots, but leave the peel on.)
3. Melt the butter over low heat in a skillet with a cover.
4. Add the apples, and stir lightly with a spatula to coat them with butter.
5. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes to soften.
6. Sprinkle the sugar over the apples. (Use the larger quantity if the apples are especially tart.)
7. Turn them again with the spatula to spread the sugar around.
8. Cook over medium-low heat for another 10 to 15 minutes, until the apples are soft and the sugar has begun to thicken into a light syrup.
9. Serve warm.
