Fried apples do well as a side dish with ANYTHING. Slap 'em on a plate with your pork chop and some spinach and you've got a yummy meal. Or you can hold off til dessert and throw some ice cream on top of them in a big ole bowl. How about having them on the side with pancakes for breakfast. YUM-EEEEEE!!! They are easy as pie to make. Go as sweet or as tart as you like. It's a good old fashioned southern delicacy. Enjoy!! Ingredients:
1/4 cup real butter |
6 tart apples, cored, sliced |
1 teaspoon lemon juice |
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 dash ground nutmeg |
Directions:
1. In a large skillet, melt butter. 2. Place apples evenly over skillet bottom. 3. Sprinkle lemon juice over them, then brown sugar, then salt. 4. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes until apples are tender. 5. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. |
