Ingredients:
1 large bunch (about 5 pounds) turnip greens |
1/3 pound salt pork, washed and diced |
1 cup water |
1/2 cup coarsely chopped onion |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. Cut off and discard tough stems and discolored leaves from greens. Wash greens thoroughly and drain. 2. Cook salt pork in a large Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring frequently, until crisp and brown. 3. Add water, onion, sugar, salt, pepper, and greens; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2 minutes. Cover and simmer 45 minutes or until tender. |
