Fresh beans may be eaten whole or refried. Ingredients:
16 cups dried pinto beans |
1/2 cup salt |
1/4 cup garlic powder |
1/4 cup onion powder |
4 gallons water |
Directions:
1. soak beans overnight in 1 gallon of water and add spices. The next day, add 2 more gallons of water and cook over high heat for 1 hour. Add water as necessary ensuring that beans are completely covered. After one hour, check beans for tenderness and add salt. If beans are not tender, continue to cook for another 1/2 hour to hour. |
