Great way to use fresh pears in this differenly delicious recipe. More like a upside down cake Ingredients:
4 firm ripe pears (about 2 lbs ) |
1/2 tsp each: cinnamon, nutmeg |
1/4 tsp ginger |
1/2 cup maple syrup |
1 1/2 cups buttermilk baking mix |
1/2 cup butter or margarine melted |
1/2 cup milk |
1 large egg, fork beaten |
whipped cream and thin orange peel strips for garnish |
Directions:
1. Peel, core and slece pears into 1/2 inch slices 2. Toss pears with the spices. 3. Place pears into a welluttered 8 inch cake pan 4. Pour maple syrup over. 5. Cover with foil and bake in a 350F oven for 15 minutes 6. Combine remaining ingedients to make a batter. 7. Pour over pears and bake 30 minutes longer uncovered. 8. Cool slightly and invert cake onto serving platter to unmold. 9. Serve warm with whipped cream and strands of orange peel |
