This recipe is similar to one at a local Neighborhood Market.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons salt
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1/4 cup water
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, mix the all purpose flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt together. Stir in the whole wheat flour and mix well. Add the milk and water to the dry ingredients and mix to a soft dough.
2. Turn out onto a floured surface, knead lightly and then shape into a large round about 2 inches thick. Place onto a floured baking sheet, cut a deep cross in the top and sprinkle with flour.
3. Bake in a preheated 425 degree F oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
