French Toast With Apples Sauteed In Rum |

this is a basic french toast recipe but the apple rum topping makes it special... the recipe is from the: Whispering Pines B&B 1268 Magnolia Rd - SR 542 Atwood Lake Region Dellroy, OH 44620 Ingredients:
2 eggs |
1/3 cup milk |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
4 slices french bread, cut 1 inch thick |
apple topping |
6 tablespoons unsalted butter |
1/4 cup sugar |
2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 in. slices |
1/4 cup rum |
Directions:
1. French Toast: Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar & cinnamon. Arrange bread slices in 9-in baking dish. Pour over egg mixture, turning to coat. Let stand for 20 minutes. 2. Apple Topping: Melt 4 Tablespoons butter in skillet. Mix in sugar. Add apples & cook until syrup turns deep golden brown, about 20 minutes. Add rum & bring to boil. Set aside. 3. Melt remaining butter in skillet. Add bread slices and cook until golden on both sides. 4. Arrange bread slices on plates. Bring apples to a simmer then spoon apple mixture over the french toast. Serve warm. |
