A favourite my mother used to make. The combination of cheese and syrup gives a flavour that is both sweet and satisfying and a favourite of the kids. Ingredients:
8 slices bread (white or brown) |
4 process cheese slices |
2 eggs |
milk |
cooking spray |
Directions:
1. Preheat frying pan or electric griddle to approximately 300 F. 2. In a flat casserole mix eggs with a splash or two of milk until well blended. 3. Spray heated pan or griddle with cooking spray 4. Dip bread into egg mixture, coating both sides. 5. Place 4 slices of bread on pan or grill and fry until golden brown on one side. 6. Turn bread over and place one cheese slice on each of 2 bread slices. 7. Top each cheese-topped bread slice with a non-cheese-topped bread slice. 8. Continue to cook a minute longer to allow cheese to begin to melt. 9. Serve with syrup. |
