A fun spin on an old favorite. Great way to jazz up brunch or breakfast Ingredients:
1 loaf of day old french bread |
2 eggs |
dash vanilla or almond |
dash of nutmeg |
dash of cinnamon |
splash of heavy cream, half and half or whole milk (*for a special treat use french vanilla coffee creamer) |
large skillet |
cooking spray |
syrup or powdered confectioners sugar (optional) |
Directions:
1. Slice bread about 1 in thick on the diagonal 2. In a large bowl, mix eggs, cream, vanilla nutmeg and cinnamon 3. Spray skillet with cooking spray and heat on medium heat until hot 4. Soak bread in egg mixture until completely coated. 5. Place on hot skillet about 3 minutes or until done, on each side 6. Repeat until all of the bread has been used. 7. serve with syrup or powdered confectioners sugar. |
