From the Weekend magazine, Foodcourt column on Breakfast . Ingredients:
1 cup low-fat milk |
1/4 cup sugar |
3 -5 drops vanilla essence |
4 -5 slices stale bread |
2 eggs |
3 -5 teaspoons caster sugar |
1/4 cup butter |
Directions:
1. Boil milk with sugar and essence. 2. Remove from heat. 3. Set aside. 4. Soak bread slices in milk for a few seconds without letting bread fall apart. 5. Then dip bread slices one at a time in beaten eggs. 6. Heat butter in a pan. 7. Fry the slices in the butter. 8. When golden in colour, turn the bread slices over and cook the other side. 9. Arrange the slices in a serving dish. 10. Sprinkle some castor sugar over the slices. 11. Serve warm. |
