My mother's favorite dessert. Very light and fluffy. Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter |
2 cups sugar |
2 cups flour |
1 cup sour cream |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
1/2 cup cocoa powder |
3/4 cup hot water |
3 egg whites, beaten stiff |
powdered sugar, for topping |
Directions:
1. dissolve cocoa into hot water; let cool while you prepare other ingredients. 2. cream butter and sugar well. 3. add flour, sour cream, baking soda, salt and vanilla. 4. add cocoa mixture. 5. fold in egg whites. 6. pour into greased 9x13 pan. 7. bake at 350° dor 15 minutes. 8. lower oven to 325° nd bake for an additional 20 minutes or until tests clean. 9. when cool, sprinkle generously with powdered sugar. |
