I love french onion soup, but wanted to find a way to make it into a bite size recipie! Plus it gives me a reason to use my mini blow torch! Ingredients:
1 yellow or white onion, sliced |
1 bay leaf |
1 tsp thyme |
1 tbs butter |
1 beef bouillon cube |
1/2 cup water |
1 box athens phyllo shells |
salt and pepper |
gruyere cheese, grated |
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 2. Melt butter in large pan over medium heat 3. Add slices onions, bay leaf and thyme 4. Carmelize the onion, about 10 minutes 5. Dissolve boullion cube in 1/2 cup of water and add to pan to deglaze 6. Let thicken, then add salt and pepper to taste 7. Remove bay leaf 8. Fill each cup with mixture and make in oven for 10 - 12 minutes 9. Sprinkle each cup with grated Gruyere Cheese and melt with a mini torch. |
