French Breakfast Muffins (Sugar Top Muffins) |

I love these muffins. I've been hooked on them ever since my dad started making them for breakfast. Note that you won't use all of the sugary topping and the 2 flours isn't a typo, it's just the only way zaar will let me write it out. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour |
2 tablespoons flour |
3/4 cup sugar |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 cup milk |
1 egg, beaten |
1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine, melted |
3 tablespoons butter, melted |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 cup white sugar |
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°. 2. Combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add milk, egg, and 1/3 cup melted butter. Mix thoroughly. 3. Grease 18 small muffin tins. Fill 1/2 full and bake for 20 minutes. 4. Remove muffins from pan immediately. While warm, dip tops of muffins in the 3 tablespoons Melted butter and roll in a mixture of the cinnamon, 1/4 cup sugar and vanilla. Serve warm. |
