This recipe was in a box of recipes I bought at a neighbors estate sale. The prep. time is a guess since I didn't time how long it took me to prepare it. Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
2 tablespoons flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 1/2 lbs peeled and sliced tart apples |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/4 cup water |
1 tablespoon soft butter or 1 tablespoon margarine |
1/2 cup flour |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 tablespoons soft butter or 2 tablespoons margarine |
1 slightly beaten egg |
Directions:
1. For the filling: 2. Combine dry ingredients. 3. Add apples, vanilla and water. 4. Mix well. 5. Put in a greased 8x8 baking dish. 6. Dot with butter. 7. Let stand while preparing topping. 8. For the topping:. 9. Combine all ingredients. 10. Mix until smooth. 11. Drop batter in 9 portions on top of apple mixture. 12. Batter spreads during baking. 13. Bake at 375* for about 40 minutes or until applea are done and topping is a golden brown. 14. Serve warm plain or with whipped cream if desired. |
