This is Swedish and spiced cake recipe. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
2 cups flour, sifted |
1 tsp soda |
1 cup sour milk |
1 egg, slightly beaten |
1 tsp. cinnamon |
1 tsp. cloves |
1 tsp. nutmeg |
1 tsp. vanilla |
1 lb. dates, chopped |
1/2cup walnuts |
Directions:
1. Cream sugar, butter and flour; blend. 2. Remove 1/2 cup of this mixture and reserve. 3. Add soda to milk, then to sugar – flour mixture along with egg, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and vanilla; mix well. Add dates and nuts. 4. Put in greased pan and sprinkle reserved sugar – butter – flour mixture over the top of batter. 5. This is served as a frosting and not other is necessary. 6. Bake at preheated oven, 375 F. for 30 – 35 minutes. |
