I don’t know what to say except… WOW! I’m diabetic so I only took a spoonful to taste … I ended up eating a full serving and more! I had to leave the room or I would probably finished off the whole thing! This is a very light dessert that just melts in your mouth. Box cake mix works better than scratch for this recipe; use your preferred brand…weight doesn’t have to match exactly. As for the syrup, you’ll need about a half bottle of whichever syrup you chose to use. I wasn’t given sizes so there’s a little guesswork in the amounts, sizes and timing. Servings will depend on the amount taken by each person (in my case, 1 serving!) Timing DOES NOT included the cake and pudding preparation. Ingredients:
1 (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix (bake as directed on box) |
1 (16 ounce) container cool whip |
2 (4 ounce) boxes vanilla instant pudding mix (prepare as directed on box) |
1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced |
0.5 (22 ounce) bottle caramel syrup (or butterscotch syrup) |
Directions:
1. Bake cake according to directions on back of box and let cool. Cut in 1-inch cubes. 2. This is a layer dessert, so …. 3. start with a layer of cake (use 1/3 of cake). 4. layer 1/3 of pudding. 5. layer 1/3 of strawberries. 6. layer 1/3 of cool whip 7. drizzle syrup back and forth over cool whip. 8. Repeat layers finishing with cool whip on top decorate with swirl of syrup and some strawberries to decorate. |
