This is an old school recipe for caramel apples. Ingredients:
1 cup margarine |
2 1/2 cups brown sugar |
1 dash salt |
1 cup light karo syrup |
1 (15 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |

Directions:
1. Add all ingredients (except vanilla) to a saucepan. 2. Cook; stirring constantly on medium heat until the mixture reaches 235* (firm ball stage). 3. Stir the vanilla into mixture after you take this off the heat. 4. Roll apples in caramel mixture and set on wax paper to cool. 5. Makes 2 1/2 lbs caramels or about 20 small apples. |
