Of having been given this recipe by my ex-mother-in-laws best friend i am really proud. which is why i have held onto it for 37 years. just a piece of paper - but what a memory! Fran would not part with it for anything - but sent it to me after my divorce to cheer me up. Read more . Thank you Fran, i am sure you are having a great time in heaven, playing ragtime tunes with your beloved Tex! Now, i have tried umpteen times to write Fran's - but the apostrophy just never shows. Drat! her name is FRAN not FRANS ! :-) Ingredients:
1/4 lb butter less 1 tablespoon |
1 tablespoon spry or oil |
1 cup sugar |
1 cup sour cream |
1 tablespoon milk |
2 cups flour (all purpose) |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
sift the above together four times |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 teaspoon almond extract |
2 eggs (beaten) |
filling |
3/4 cup chopped walnuts |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 teasponn cinnamon |
mixed together |
set oven too 350°f |
Directions:
1. Cream butter & spry (or oil) and add sugar, a little at a time. 2. cream well. 3. add 2 eggs (beaten) 4. then add sour cream, milk, vanilla and almond extract. 5. add flour, salt baking powder and baking soda (sifted together four times - important!) 6. beat batter well 7. grease pan well, 8. add 1/2 of batter 9. then chooped nuts mixture, reerving some for top of cake 10. add remaining batter 11. sprinkle remaining nut mix on top 12. bake , cool and remove from pan |
