This fragrant rice dish is sure to please the tastebuds and leave eaters yearning for more. It is a Middle Eastern style rice dish, similar to what is served at many weddings on large platters to guests! Ingredients:
3/4 cup brown rice (uncooked) |
1 tablespoon raisins, chopped |
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon |
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder |
3/4 teaspoon onion powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/16 teaspoon ground black pepper |
1-1/4 cups water |
1 tablespoon toasted, chopped almonds |
Directions:
1. Combine rice, cinnamon, raisins, onion and garlic powders, black pepper, salt and water in a medium size saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 45 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. 2. Sprinkle with toasted almonds. 3. If desired serve with a dallop of plain yogurt on top and with delicious chai tea prepared with milk. |
