Hands up, who serves applesauce at the dinner table? How about trying this instead? It's easy to prepare, luscious, and you'll be amazed at how such a simple dish will impress family and friends. This is great when served with a roast...especially pork, chicken or turkey. Use whatever apples you prefer; I like golden delicious for this recipe. If you like the taste of cinnamon, a pinch can be added when cooking (don't add too much, or the apples will have a dessert taste). Ingredients:
2 apples, pared,cored,sliced thin |
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice |
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine |
1 tablespoon honey |
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine apple slices and lemon juice; toss gently but well. 2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat and add apples (and any lemon juice in the bowl) and honey. 3. Cook for 2 or 3 minutes, stirring gently, until apples are glazed, and tender. 4. Serve immediately. |
