Ingredients:
4 cups self-rising flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 1/2 cups milk |
Directions:
1. Combine flour and baking powder; stir well. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle milk evenly over flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. 2. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 to 12 times. 3. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on greased baking sheets. Bake at 425° for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. |
