This recipe goes with Devil's Food Cake Ingredients:
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar |
3 egg whites |
1/2 cup light corn syrup |
3 tablespoons water |
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, egg whites (at room temperature), syrup, water, cream of tartar, and salt in top of a large double boiler; beat at low speed of electric mixer 30 seconds or just until blended. 2. Place over rapidly boiling water; beat constantly at high speed of electric mixer 7 minutes or until stiff peaks form. Remove from heat, and add vanilla; beat 1 minute or until frosting is thick enough to spread. Spread on cooled cake. |
