This recipe comes from Melting Pot Potluck. It was put together to announce the arrival of a new pastor and his wife. Origin: Spanish-American. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
4 eggs |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 cups evaporated milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Heat 1 cup sugar in casserole or mold until dark brown syrup is formed. Turn the container so that the syrup coats bottom and sides. Beat eggs lightly. Add 1/2 cup sugar, salt, milk, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Cover. Set in pan of hot water and cook for 1 hour, or until knife inserted in the center of the custard comes clean. |
