I made this mexican flag cookies for the independence day family gathering, Everybody likes them. hope you like them! Ingredients:
* 1-1/4 cups all purpose flour |
* pinch of salt |
* 1/4 cup of sugar |
* 1/2finely ground almonds |
* peel of 1 lemon |
* 1/3cup butter,softened |
* 2egg yolks |
* to finish |
* powder sugar with a few drops of lemon juice, and 1 drop of red and green food coloring |
Directions:
1. 1. Grease several baking sheets with butter. 2. 2. Stir flour, salt and sugar in medium size bowl 3. 3. mix in almonds and lemon peel 4. 4. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine bread crumbs. 5. 5. Add egg yolks and mix to form a soft dough. 6. 6. Roll out dough on a floured surface, using a rectangle cookie cutter . 7. and cut out the figures. 8. 7. Place slightly apart 9. 8. Refrigerate unbaked for 30 minutes 10. 9. Preheat oven to 350F, 11. 10. Bake flag Sables for 15 to 20 min or until light brown. 12. 11. Remove, when cool, decorate with a pipe and the colored sugar icing. 13. 12. Enjoy! |
