Good with noodles or stir-fried vegetables. Ingredients:
4 white fish fillets or 4 cod or 4 haddock or 4 whiting fish, about 6 oz. each |
1 teaspoon chinese five spice powder |
4 teaspoons cornstarch |
1 tablespoon sunflower oil |
3 scallions, shredded |
1 teaspoon grated fresh gingerroot |
1 1/4 cups button mushrooms, sliced |
2/3 cup baby corn, sliced |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
3 tablespoons dry sherry |
1 teaspoon sugar |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Toss the fish in the five-spice powder and cornstarch to coat. 2. Heat the oil in a frying pan or wok and stir-fry the scallions, ginger, mushrooms, and corn for 1 minute. 3. Add the spiced fish and cook for 2 minutes, turning once. 4. Mix together the soy sauce, sherry, and sugar, then pour over the fish. 5. Simmer for 2 minutes. 6. Season to taste and serve. |
