From my collection of handwritten recipes. Ingredients:
1/2 lb lean pork |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
1 tablespoon sherry wine |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder |
1 teaspoon cornstarch |
1 cup fresh asparagus, cut in 2-inch lengths |
3 tablespoons oil |
Directions:
1. Cut pork into 2x1 strips. In a medium bowl, toss pork strips with soy sauce, sherry, sugar, five spice powder, and cornstarch until evenly coated. Let stand 10 minutes. Bring a medium saucepan of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add asparagus and cook until just tender, 2-3 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold running water; drain well. In a wok, heat oil over high heat until just smoking. Add pork and stir fry until just done, about 3 minutes. Add blanched asparagus and 2 Tblsp. water. Continue to stir fry until dish is heated through, about 1 minute. Serve with steamed rice. |
