A healthy & Delightful fresh water fish cutlet recipe. Ingredients:
fish : 350 grams boneless sweet water fish fillets. ( rohu or rawas ) boiled in adequate amount of water with salt & turmeric & then diced fine. |
binding : 5 raw bananas , stripped , chopped , boiled with salt & turmeric and then dry mashed. |
paste : 3 green chillies, two tablespoon spring onion leaves, 5 garlic cloves, 1/2 a lime juiced , 1/2 chopped onion , 7/8 curry leaves. |
seasoning spice powders : 1 teaspoon each of red chilly powder, turmeric powder & white pepper powder, 1/2 teaspoons of nutmeg & mace powder , 3 cloves powdered, 2 inch strip of cinnamon powdered. |
for frying : 2 eggs beaten with 2 teaspoons of corn flower and a bowl of fine powdered bread crumbs & adequate oil. |
Directions:
1. Dice two large onions and fry in pan in one table spoon of cooking oil, 2. when onion starts going light brown add the spices powders one by one & keep stirring for two minutes till the aromas emerge, add the paste to this and stir for 3/4 minutes more, to this add the shredded fish and keep stirring for 5 more minutes, take off the fire & let this mixture cool for 20 minutes. Add this mixture to the mashed banana mixture to a smooth cutlet/patties consistency. Divide this smooth mixture into eight portions and shape each portion into round/oval/triangle cutlet shapes. 3. Heat adequate oil in a shallow skillet , take each cutlet & dip them in the egg+corn flour batter & then roll them in the bread crumbs and gently lower into the frying skillet, cook each side of cutlet for three minutes. 4. Serve hot with onion rings, garlic/chilly toast, soup & salad on the side. 5. PS : Boiled mashed Raw bananas are a healthier option to mashed to potatoes as it has more fibre.........Enjoy !!! 6.
