Who says kids do not like fish? ;) This is a favourite with the young ones and people generally give this a 2 thumbs up. Ingredients:
fish - 1/4 kg- (if using canned tuna, take 2 small cans) - (i like to use halibut, king fish or any of the white meat fish with tougher textures. salmon is also fine but be careful as they tend to break up.) |
potato - 2 |
shallots chopped - 1 cup |
ginger&garlic thinly sliced-1 tsp each (or ground) |
green chillies chopped - 2 pieces |
ground black pepper powder - 1 tsp |
fish masala - 1 tsp |
egg - 2 |
bread crumbs |
salt to taste |
oil for frying (or else you can bake this dish as well) |
Directions:
1. Clean and cut the fish. 2. Cook it with 1/2 tsp of pepper powder and salt. 3. Shred the fish using a fork or your hands 4. If using the canned Tuna, then drain the excess water. 5. Cook or steam the potatoes until they are tender 6. Once done, mash the potatoes and keep it aside 7. Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions, ginger& garlic, greenchillies and saute it till they are soft 8. Add cooked fish and then the Fish Masala and fry it for a minute 9. Add salt and sauté it well for 10-12 minutes.remove from fire and let it cool 10. Add mashed potatoes and mix it well with your hand 11. Make small balls in round, oval or in the shape you want, with your hand (Flattened balls are better as they tend to cook better) 12. Dip these balls in beaten egg and roll it in bread crumbs 13. Deep fry it and drain it in paper towles 14. You can also bake these balls at 350 degrees F till they become brown. If you intend to bake them, add some vege oil to the mixture before you make them as balls. 15. Let me know what you think |
