This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Marcus Estate in Greenville, Texas in 1994. Ingredients:
6 ripe tomatoes sliced thin |
1 red onion sliced thin |
1 green bell pepper cut into strips |
3/4 cup cider vinegar |
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper |
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes |
1 tablespoon granulated sugar |
Directions:
1. Layer tomatoes, onion and green pepper in a glass dish. 2. Whisk together vinegar, black pepper, red pepper flakes and sugar with 1/4 cup water. 3. Pour over vegetables then cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight. 4. Serve chilled. |
