Another firehouse recipe my son-in-law is a volunteer fireman the firehouse cooks exchange recipes and take great pride in being asked for a recipe from another cook. Ingredients:
3 pound beef roast chuck works very well |
salt and pepper to taste |
1 package onion soup mix |
3 oz of your families favorite steak sauce |
2 tablespoons water |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
Directions:
1. Place roast on heavy duty aluminum foil 2. season to taste with salt and pepper 3. Pour 1/2 the package or onion soup mix over the roast 4. then drizzle the steak sauce evenly over the roast 5. seal the roast in foil leaving room for steam 6. place foil wrapped roast in a pan 7. bake at 350 degrees for 2 and 1/2 hours or until roast is tender 8. To make the gravy remove roast from foil 9. pour pan drippings in measuring cup 10. add enough water to measure 2 cups 11. place in a sauce pan add remaining 1/2 package of onion soup mix 12. bring to a boil 13. combine 2 tablesoons water and cornstarch and stir into soup mix stirring until thickened 14. serve gravy with sliced beef and mashed potatoes |
