This is a one star in difficulty and five star in flavor recipe - just the way I like it. Try it on one of those cold winter evenings. Bring your own baguette bread and dip away! Ingredients:
2 1/2 lbs beef roast (good quality with some fat on it) |
4 large onions |
6-8 cups of stock - chicken or beef |
1 tbsp hungarian paprika |
salt, black ground pepper to taste |
1/3 lemon - just juice |
4-5 cloves of garlic |
6-7 pcs whole allspice |
5 medium to large potatoes |
Directions:
1. Cut the roast into 1-1/2 inch cubes 2. Heat the roast pot or dutch oven over high heat 3. Toss in the meat and brown on all sides nicely 4. Add black pepper and paprika at this time 5. Mix well 6. Half and slice onions and add to the meat; mix well 7. Continue turning onions and meat until onions are translucent 8. Add enough stock to cover about 1/2 inch above the meat level 9. Add salt to taste, lemon juice 10. Bring to boil, reduce heat to very low, cover snuggly and simmer for about 1-1/2 hours - meat should be tender 11. Peel the potatoes and quarter them lengthwise 12. Toss the potatoes into the pot with meat and turn the heat up - bringing it back to boil 13. Reduce the heat to medium 14. Add minced garlic and allspice corns 15. Cook until potatoes are done 16. Serve very hot with fresh baguette |
