Whole wheat waffles Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour |
1 1/4 t honey |
1 tsp baking powder |
1/2 tsp baking soda |
1/4 tsp cinnamon |
1/8 tsp salt |
2 1/2 cups buttermilk |
1 tsp vanilla extract |
3 egg whites |
Directions:
1. Combine all dry ingredients. Stir well. Combine buttermilk with vanilla extract and set aside. 2. Warm your waffle maker. 3. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. At this point, combine the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix just until all is combined. Add the egg whites and fold gently into the flour mixture just until the egg whites are incorporated. 4. Once the waffle maker is ready, spray with cooking spray (you only need to do this once). Fill the waffle maker with batter, taking care not to overfill. Cook until your waffle maker indicates that it is ready, or until steaming stops. Repeat with the remaining batter. To keep waffles warm while making the remaining batches, heat oven to 250° and place the finished waffles in the oven until all the waffles are made and ready to serve. 5. Serve with grade b maple syrup, fruit, and/or whipped cream. |
